on the drive with kenny jones – we discussed the firing of vicki walker, the former financial controller of procare health in aukland, new zealand. people lose their jobs everyday – but the reason miss walker got the sack is a bit questionable…
she was cut loose for sending confrontational emails!
her bosses claimed she was causing “disharmony” in the workplace by using ALL-CAPS, BOLD, and RED and BLUE FONTS to emphasize important points, which some recipients might find “confrontational.”
walker says the firing nearly ruined her life. She sued and just won $17,000 damages for unfair dismissal and plans to appeal for more. you go girl – stick it to the man! but…are your practices a bit out of line?
her questionable emailing tactics got the drive contingent riled up. check out their thoughts on the subject…

I DON’T FIND ANYTHING PARTICULARLY DISTURBING ABOUT WRITING IN ALL CAPS – IN FACT, I MAY DO IT FROM NOW ON. I THINK THE RED ADDS A LITTLE FLAIR AS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the 14 exclaimation points are a nice touch too, don’t you think?
hell i’d fire me too after that! what do you think? should vicki have got the axe? or is procare outta line?
