drive rewinds, the drive

showering during the workday helps productivity

on the drive with kenny jones – we discussed a study that showed showering during the workday increases productivity.  a restaurant, an architect firm, an advertising agency and a lingerie company – took part in the eight-week study, conducted by pr firm, lucre.

staff took a shower break in addition to their usual daily wash – and results showed improvement across a range of areas, from mood to productivity.  all four businesses taking part saw a 42%  increase in productivity and a 33% increase in creativity.

here’s the drive contingent’s thoughts on showering at work…

while initially i liked the idea of showering at work – then i got to think about the people i’d be showering after.  these filthy animals leave their coffee cups lying around, rarely throw away food containers and generally NEVER pick up after themselves.  i can just imagine what that shower would look like after a week.

this got us thinking about other ways of increasing productivity in the workplace.  here are some of the ideas we came up with:

  • nap time
  • air hockey table
  • table tennis/ping pong
  • xbox 360, ps3, nintendo wii
  • gym/work out facility
  • food court

here’s one, how about actually being rewarded for increased productivity – how innovative an idea is THAT!
