on the drive with kenny jones – we got on the topic of eating food that has gone off.  why did we talk about this…because i did!  let me preface this story by saying – it is not for the faint of heart.

in my defense, i’ve not been myself lately having to cover for the morning guy.  i came home from work – made myself a sandwich, sat down and began to stuff my face.

halfway thru the sandwich i noticed the corners of the bread were covered with a fuzzy green hue.   i raced to the bag hoping that it was just the “uneaten” corners that had spores growing on ‘em.  not the case – the bag looked like something out of a horror movie.

i breathed a sigh of relief when the majority of callers and texts said, “don’t worry – you’ll be fine.”  here’s what wikianswers said about eating moldy food:

mold on grain products is the worst – e.g. moldy bread, moldy muffins, etc. – and should be thrown out.

while some bread molds are harmless, some are indigestible and can make you throw up, some are poisonous and can make you very ill or kill you.

OR KILL YOU!  thanks for the helpful advice drive contingent.  you’ve always got my back.  in the future, i think i’m gonna pass on moldy food of any kind.

here’s the best way to manage your bread.

• keep at room temperature only the amount of bread you can eat
• freeze the remainder
• thaw it in a closed plastic bag.
• don’t just refrigerated bread, because it will cause them to go stale.

and most important…always check your food!  i’m gonna go throw up now
