Cell phones must be turned off for the duration of the film. Pulling them out to check the time, view messages or photos or to play a game (even if it is on silent) are not valid reasons for allowing the light emitting from your phone screen to disturb other guests. As for the debate on “What if there is an emergency?”, should you really be in the theater if you are expecting one? Saying you have a relative in poor health or a child who is not with you does not excuse you from ruining the movie experience for everyone else. Why would you pay top dollar to go to the theater to not watch the movie and disturb other guests at the same time when you can not watch the movie and disturb none of those guests outside the theater? For years movie-goers have enjoyed their films in a cell phone free environment. It was called “the-time-before-cell-phones”. No one had one, yet they persevered and prospered.

i agree! they should be dragged from the theatre and beaten. why cant someone sit for an hour and fifty miontues and watch a movie without being on a mobile.
