on the drive with kenny jones – we discussed some in flight buffoonery. recently, a melee broke out on an air india flight headed from the uae to new delhi.
now there’s nothing new or odd hearing stories of flight attendants mollifying enraged passengers these days – but here’s one with a twist. have a listen…

awesome! in flight fisticuffs beats watching devil wears prada any day. i swear, that glenn close is lookin’ more & more like woman everyday.

could you imagine getting in a slap fight with that thing!
according to indian media reports, crew members threw punches and hurled abuse at each other in full view of 106 passengers. air india said it had grounded two pilots and two crew members over the incident.
bummer!
that is not all that has been going on in the friendly skies as of late. here are some other bizarre mid-air tales:
cabin pressure
• There was alarm on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight in 2006 when passengers noticed rats roaming the cabin. They had been smuggled aboard in a passenger’s hand luggage. He was arrested when the flight landed
• Alexander Cheplevsky, an Aeroflot pilot, sparked panic on an aircraft waiting to take off from Moscow for New York in February, when his slurred and garbled speech made passengers think that he was drunk. A crew member tried to reassure them by announcing that it was “not such a big deal” if the pilot was drunk because the aircraft practically flew itself. A replacement flight crew was eventually called in
• On a holiday flight from Greece last year two British women attacked cabin staff with a vodka bottle and fought to open the emergency exit, one screaming: “I want some fresh air.” The aircraft made an emergency diversion to Germany, where armed police arrested the women, aged 26 and 27, to cheers from the other travellers
kinda makes me wish i was more of a frequent flyer.
