uv sterilization…sounds fake?

today on-air with kenny jones – the crew discussed their weekend movie outing – they we to check out “the clash of the titans”. And the best part about the flick is that this bad boy was in 3-d!

no, not the old school blue and red specs – these look like the blue blockers your grandmother or an aged terminator would sport.

some would argue you look quite cool in ‘em. okay that’s a bit much – but you did get to experience coins, spears, scorpion guts and kracken tenticles swinging out over your head.

but the most disturbing thing about the film was not the bad script, sam worthington’s skirt or even liam neeson’s shiny outfit – it was the sticker on the package of 3-d glasses. it simply said:

uv sterilized

being a bit of a germaphobe, this got me wondering just who’s face had been pressed up against those glasses during the show before me…and what about the screening before that? is your skin crawling yet?

we then threw it out to the on-air disciples to find out just what “uv sterilization” actually is. here’s what they had to say:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

is it just me – or does “uv sterilization” sound a lil’ too sophisticated for a movie house?

i still think that i would feel better if there had been a couple theatre employees scrubbin’ the glasses in a barrel of suds with a bottle of bleach sittin’ next to it.

perhaps i will invest in a pair of my own 3-d glasses for future film outings – or maybe a haz-mat suit with a 3-d capable visor…it could happen!

what’s your take? is this an over-reaction or is there cause for concern? remember when you wear someone else’s 3-d glasses, it’s like have your nose and ears touching the person that wore those glasses before you and the person that wore ‘em before them and the one before them and before them and…i think you get the idea.

catch on air with kenny jones weekdays from 7-11, exclusively on radio indigo 91-9.
