today on air with kenny jones – the crew got on the topic of littering. it all kicked off when a certain on air staffer claimed it was okay to throw an apple core on the street because it was biodegradable.
i won’t mention any names, but it starts with a “c” and and ends with an “hristabel“.
there was a heated discussion on just what is considered litter. here’s what the on air contingent had to say about the tossing out you wet waste, dry waste or any kind of wast at all…

according to webster’s dictionary this is the definition of “litter”.
/lit-er/ –noun
1. objects strewn or scattered about; scattered rubbish.2. a condition of disorder or untidiness.3. a number of young brought forth by a multiparous animal at one birth.4. a framework of cloth stretched between two parallel bars, for the transportation of a sick or wounded person; stretcher.5. a vehicle carried by people or animals, consisting of a bed or couch, often covered and curtained, suspended between shafts.6. straw, hay, or the like, used as bedding for animals or as protection for plants.7. the layer of slightly decomposed organic material on the surface of the floor of the forest.
i’m not sure if that definition really solved anything. but if you ask me, i’m of the opinion that anything that is “waste” should be thrown on the ground at all…and close to the bin isn’t good enough either!
just for the record, it takes a banana peel around a month to decompose; an 
apple core will take around a month, an orange peel will take 6 months.

we’ve started carrying our own jute bags to transport our groceries – don’t ask me how i know what jute is…i just do. my point is – let’s all try and make the world a better place by picking up after ourselves!

I dont like to see any trash thrown on the streets. Just because it is biodegradeable doesnt make it ok. Look at the coconuts on the side of the road. They biodegrade but they look AWEFUL!

NEVER throw anything on the ground! Are you Mad? Hate to see people litter. We must all work to make a cleaners place to live.

i’m a HUGE green advo. And helping out animals too but tossing any kind of waste on the groiund is litter, c-bell! no matter who or what might happen along to eat it.
